April Fools' Day pranks the open source way Posted: 28 Mar 2013 02:00 AM PDT April Fools' Day is not a national holiday, so no, you don't get to stay at home and play with your Raspberry Pi or read HackerNews all day. But, you do get to the opportunity to join a community of pranksters around the globe who will invariably succeed in some knee-slapping, good humor. |
Opening product data for a more responsible world Posted: 28 Mar 2013 12:00 AM PDT Data on the products we buy is rarely viewed as something to be opened. But in fact, the international standards that make it possible for products to be traded across borders can be used by consumers for their own ends—to help improve information—sharing and choice across the planet. There is currently no public database of this information, but we're working to change that at Product Open Data. |
Join the first Open Source Hardware Documentation Jam Posted: 27 Mar 2013 11:24 AM PDT The Open Source Hardware Documentation Jam will be held on April 26-28 in New York. We always thought the power of open source hardware lies in the ability to build upon others' work and, when it comes to hardware, good documentation is the key to making this happen. |
